First Time Out Market Dubai chefs and restaurants revealed

Household names to serve up everything from bao to burgers at Downtown Dubai market

Sit tight – Time Out Market Dubai is opening soon, and if you can’t wait to try Dubai’s tastiest eats we have some edge-of-your-seat news.

Time Out Market Dubai is opening in early 2021, and now the time has come to let you know the first eight chefs and restaurants forming an absolutely stonking 17-strong line-up of fantastic local eats.

From the most authentic Vietnamese dishes to delightful desserts and totally awesome pizzas – the city’s top talent will be dishing up the most creative, delicious eats to Dubai’s residents and visitors.

BB Social Dining

Time Out Market Dubai
This fantastically creative, multi-award- winning restaurant is famed for its bites, bowls and more. Silky and slurpable pho and ramen sit alongside innovative bao and tasty barbecue. Dishes come from executive chef and co-founder Alex Stumpf, and BB’s wagyu katsu sando has become so popular it’s even led to a spin-off for the team – The Little Katsu Shop. Other signature dishes include the habibi (short rib bao), habibiti (soft shell crab bao) and cauliflower popcorn with truffle tofu sauce.

Time Out Market Dubai
This petite dessert café in Jumeirah has garnered a cult following since opening. Famed for its puddings and sweets – especially its tasty truffles and brilliant bon bons – there’s loads to love about the creative treats. It comes from the team behind popular Asian restaurant 3 Fils and is a hit with foodies with a sweet tooth.

folly by Nick & Scott

Time Out Market Dubai
A household name in Dubai, culinary power duo Nick Alvis and Scott Price have been working together for years – having met while in the kitchen of Claridge’s under British celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay. Their Dubai restaurant folly by Nick & Scott, with Gates Hospitality, opened in March 2017 and has picked up several Time Out Dubai awards for its creative British fare. Famed for dishes including crispy hen’s egg maple syrup and pancetta, crab with basil and seaweed and rhubarb and custard, foodies flock here in their droves.

Time Out Market Dubai
Masti opened at Dubai’s seaside dining destination La Mer to much fanfare – and with good reason. Exciting Indian fusion dishes are the mainstay of the menu, while the innovative mixed drinks means its bar is also an award-winner. Creative dishes come from head chef Prashant Chipkar, with the tuna bhel tartare – a spin on the popular street food a huge hit at the restaurant. Dishes on the inventive menu include smoked salmon khakhra, chipotle paneer and tandoori chicken bao.

Think you know coffee? Get ready to expand your mind. Nightjar in Al Quoz is one of the coolest spots in town. Starting out as a coffee roastery and specialising in cold brew and craft beverage production, Nightjar set up shop with a café in Alserkal Avenue in 2018 and is one of the hippest hangouts in town. Known for its super brews and tasty bites including house-cured salt beef, old-school custard pie with cream and more.

Pickl is a fan favourite serving up the most famous fried-chicken sandwiches and burgers in town Starting life in JLT, there’s now an outlet in Deira, as well as a food truck in uptown Mirdif, satisfying Pickl-lovers across the city. No surprise founder Steve Flawith takes his sandwiches seriously, with new flavour combinations and dishes popping up on Pickl’s menu frequently.

Famous for its New York-meets-Neapolitan pizza and original topping mash-ups, Pitfire commands a loyal following. Set up by Michele and Bill Johnson, the JLT fave promises big pies with even bigger personalities. Signature pizzas include Pitfire Primo, the Truff Daddy and Bill’s Special, while Pitfire is known fo its tasty crushed tomato sauce and super-fresh mozzarella.

Time Out Market Dubai
Vietnamese Foodies made a huge splash since when opening in JLT, so much so that it now has a larger branch in Burj Views, catering for all those hungry for pho in Downtown Dubai. The cute, pocket-friendly eatery serves up super-authentic Vietnamese cuisine and has picked up several Time Out Dubai awards for its outstanding dishes. Signature dishes include short-rib pho and green papaya and prawn salad.

Opening in Downtown Dubai in early 2021, Time Out Market Dubai will house the best of the city under one roof, from restaurants to cultural experiences, and from its Souk Al Bahar location will boast fantastic views to boot. Overlooking The Dubai Fountain, Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall, the Market has been curated by Time Out Dubai’s editorial team, and marks the seventh Time Out Market globally, following in the footsteps of Lisbon, New York, Miami, Chicago, Boston and Montreal.

The huge market will be spread over 30,000 sq ft at Souk Al Bahar and get ready for fantastic food, three bars and a magnificent outdoor terrace.

The Dubai Market is one of four markets Time Out Group is set to launch globally between 2021 and 2023, joining the six markets already in operation.
