Abu Dhabi Grand Prix dates confirmed for 2021

The race is coming back, are the fans?

 The dates for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in 2021 have been announced.

Formula One has confirmed a 23-race season with new races added in Jeddah as the sport comes to Saudi Arabia for the first time and the reintroduction of the Dutch Grand Prix.

The season will start In March 19 to 21 in Melbourne with the Australian Grand Prix and will end in Abu Dhabi with the final race of the season taking place at Yas Marina Circuit on December 3 to 5.

One Grand Prix, scheduled to take place on April 23 to 25 has yet to be announced.

Elsewhere in the region the sport will return to the Kingdom on Bahrain on March 26 to 28.

There has been no announcement on attendance or the likelihood of fans being able to watch the races live.

As for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2020, no fans will be attending the race on Yas Island for the very first time.

The race, which brings the F1 season to a close, will be carried out behind closed doors on December 11 to 13.

“We are pleased to announce the 2021 Formula 1 provisional calendar after extensive conversations with our promoters, the teams and the FIA. We are planning for 2021 events with fans that provide an experience close to normal and expect our agreements to be honoured,” said Chase Carey, chairman and CEO of Formula 1.

“We have proven that we can safely travel and operate our races and our promoters increasingly recognise the need to move forward and manage the virus.

“In fact, many hosts actually want to use our event as a platform to show the world they are moving forward.

“We are delighted to see Saudi Arabia become part of the schedule and are equally excited to return to the venues we hoped to race at in 2020.

“We want to thank all our promoters and partners for their ongoing enthusiasm and collaboration and look forward to giving our fans an exciting season on the track.”
