When is Diwali 2020 and how can you celebrate?

Diwali will be celebrated this year on Saturday November 14.

The Festival of Lights is one of the most important celebrations for Hindus around the world, many of whom call the UAE home.

Celebrations are set to take place across Abu Dhabi and you can take part by heading out to mark the occasion or enjoy it at home.

Here’s how you can celebrate Diwali this year in Abu Dhabi.

Chhapan Bhog

Abu Dhabi’s restaurant and sweet-makers Chhappan Bhog has launched an online platform where you can order Indian sweets to celebrate the season. You can order festive sweets, savories, chaat, namkeen and more direct to your door to celebrate the season from the comfort of home.

Ferrari World Abu Dhabi


Offering you a unique way to celebrate the season, Indian nationals can get entry to Ferrari World Abu Dhabi for less. From November 12 to 14, Indian nationals in the UAE can enter the park for a reduced price of Dhs95. Once there you can check out all the rides on offer or one of the new attractions including the roof walk and zip-line, which cost an additional Dhs125 and Dhs95 respectively.

Le Méridien Abu Dhabi

Head along to this popular hotel and you can celebrate Diwali with a feast. On November 14 you can enjoy a buy-two-get-one free deal at the Diwali Indian Night brunch. Essentially, if three people go, you only pay for two. On the menu on the night you can enjoy biryani, tandoori kebabs, chapata, chaats, vegetarian dishes and breads including naan.

Namak by Kunal Kapur


As one of Abu Dhabi’s leading Indian restaurants Namak by Kunal Kapur is serving up a special eight-course menu to celebrate Diwali until November 21. Chefs have created a spectacular feast of dishes for the season and you can have vegetarian or a non-vegetarian complete with a few surprises along the way.

Westin Abu Dhabi Golf Resort and Spa

Head along to Westin Abu Dhabi Golf Resort and Spa and you can celebrate Diwali with a feast of Indian cuisine. The festive brunch will serve a range of dishes from live cooking stations and served to your table including pani puri, dahi vada, papri chaat, samosa, kebabs, butter chicken, kadhai paneer, biryani and much more.
