Three Abu Dhabi citizens set new Guinness World Records

Records in sport, travel and sock art

The UAE loves a world record and there are too many of them to list here.

In fact, the UAE has more than 400 Guinness World Records to its name from everything from the tallest building (guess which one that is…), the largest gathering of people wearing capes, the world’s largest fountain and many more in between.

You can see the full list of Guinness World Records held by the UAE, here.

Guinness World Records hold an annual GWR Day every year and this year was a little different, for a start, it was a digital event.

The 24-hour event saw people around the world recognised for their attempts to break records and be the best.

This year, three Emiratis have successfully achieved new world records in three drastically different areas.

Breaking two records, Omeir Saeed is now the world record holder for Most Wakeboard Rail Airs (supermans) in 30 seconds and Longest Ramp Jump on a Wakeboard.

Omeir jumped an impressive 21 metres to secure the record and completed ten rail airs in 30 seconds.

Also breaking a new record, Dr Khawla Al Romaithi is now the record holder for the Fastest Time to Travel to all Seven Continents.

Dr Romaithi visited all seven continents in three days, 14 hours, 46 minutes and 48 seconds.

Inspired to spread awareness about the inclusion of people with Down Syndrome, Meera Al Hosani broke the Guinness World Record for the Longest Sock Word.

Meera spelled out the word ‘happiness’ in Arabic using 1,447 socks.

Well done to all three for breaking records.

We just need to think of something we could win the record for…
