Reem Mall in Abu Dhabi is one of the most exciting upcoming projects in the city.
The Dhs4.4bn shopping destination will be home to more than 450 stores, restaurants a cinema and the world’s biggest indoor snow park.
Snow Abu Dhabi, a 125,000 sq ft park, will be home to 13 different rides, attractions and themed zones.
Reem Mall investors Agility have announced that progress is ongoing and the mall is set to complete construction and open in 2021 despite navigating through a ‘very challenging retail environment’.
“We try our best and we are working very hard to navigate through that. Construction is ongoing, financing I would say is in place to continue the project,” said Ehab Aziz, chief financial officer at Agility.
“So, from the delivery of product, I think that will take place and we will deliver the mall next year.”
When it comes to stores and restaurants set to open at the mall, to date one-third of the mall is leased to brands who will open when the mall does next year.
“In terms of leasing the mall – it is still at one third of the mall is pre-leased,” said Aziz.
“We are positioning the mall to be more of a logistics and e-commerce hub and we’re introducing some new technology into the mall, and working on few initiatives there, but that said, it remains a very challenging project.”
