Ride for Zayed cycling campaign launches in Abu Dhabi

Join virtually or on your bike in the UAE or around the world

Keeping active and busy is important to stay fit and healthy.

Helping residents and people around the world to stay active and pay tribute to the UAE’s founding father, an annual fitness event has announced its return this year.

Ride for Zayed, launched by NYUAD, is set to take place from December 1 to 6 but this year things are a little different.

Cyclists are invited to take part digitally or on their own anywhere in Abu Dhabi or around the world as part of the campaign.

Open to people of all abilities, registration has opened for the third edition of the event.

Participating cyclists can take on distances of 49km to celebrate the 49th National Day of the UAE, either in one ride of cumulatively by completing a few rides.

Those unable to get out and cycle can participate by registering on inphota and logging their distances using Garmin, Strav or Fitbit accounts.

Registration will remain open until December 6 so last-minute participants can sing up and take part on the last day.

“We are excited to call out to all cyclists across the globe to join us to celebrate and commemorate the founder of the UAE, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan as we look towards the future,” said NYUAD Intercollegiate Athletics and External Sports Relations manager Salma Al Busaeedi.

“We are using this opportunity to convene with cyclists from all levels to take part in representing our nation’s advancements. Looking forward to welcoming new and returning participants this year!”

Good luck to all those taking part.
