Caitlyn Davey visits the Monte-Carlo Beach Club spa to try their corrective contour cellulite treatment.

To stimulate the lymphatic system, detoxify and tone the skin and remove cellulite-causing toxins.
The experience
Feeling a little bloated and sore after attending one too many ceremonies and celebrations, we thought it was high time to get some detoxification and help our swollen body calm down. The Monte-Carlo Beach Club’s corrective contour treatment seemed like the perfect place to start.
One of Abu Dhabi’s most iconic venues, the Monte-Carlo Beach Club is perched on Saadiyat’s beaches with stunning views. The quiet venue is host to lazy weekenders and a calming holiday feel. We moseyed into the spa ready for our 75-minute treatment.
We sat down with our therapist for a run-through of what to expect and our likes and dislikes. After the briefing was given, it was time to begin.
The treatment starts with an exfoliation where the therapist rubs down the body with a volcanic clay mix that acts as a gentle scrub. We feel our blood start to flow and our skin feels more alive.
After our body is scrubbed, we get into the shower to rinse off the scrub and get ready for our massage.
Next is a toxi-cleanse massage, to stimulate our lymphatic system and promote drainage. The massage is soothing yet invigorating, our tender spots are worked into oblivion. The massage uses a detoxifying grapefruit and juniper oil, which sinks into our skin and helps our body get rid of nasties. The massage is highly enjoyable, we think to ourselves, we could use this every day. A little reflexology, a Thai massage and a lot of tension release.
The treatment over, our therapist tells us to avoid heavy meals, try to stay out of the sun for the day and drink lots of water to help our body detoxify for the next few hours.
Definitely a nice way to treat ourselves and our bodies, and most certainly, highly recommended.
The results
The end product is a glowing and firmer self. We feel tighter and our blood seems to be flowing much more energetically. Our legs seem firmer and, unless we are mistaken, a little thinner.
Pros
We left feeling toned and refreshed. Our skin seems a much healthier colour, our body feels taught and strong. We still feel the effects for days after.
Cons
It’s hard to say, it was so enjoyable. However it’s a specific treatment, so it’s not necessarily suited to everyone (it really was for us though).
