Some key workers will be allowed to attend the 2020 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
The race is being held behind closed doors this year in a measure to protect public health and stop the spread of COVID-19.
But, The Department of Health, the National Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Authority have announced that a small number of frontline workers will be able to attend the event at Yas Marina Circuit.

The decision has been made in as a means of “paying tribute to [the] efforts of those whoa re serving the community during the pandemic”.
A picnic area has been arranged on Abu Dhabi Hill, which, for this year’s race, will be renamed the Frontline Heroes Hill. From there, selected attendees can watch the race with social distancing and essential safety guidelines in place.
There is no information yet about how the selection process will take place or who is eligible.
The Grand Prix will be held under special conditions this year to comply with Abu Dhabi Government’s COVID-19 safety regulations.
It will take place from December 11 to 13, with the season-ending roaring around the track as the sun sets on Sunday December 13.
The dates for the 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix have also been announced ahead of the new season and will take place from December 3 to 5.
