Learn the secrets of baking with Marmellata in Abu Dhabi

Founder Raj Dagstani is hosting free two classes at Chef Studio

During this year’s lockdown baking bread became the number one hobby while people were stuck at home.

From banana bread to sourdough starters, Instagram was awash with people’s home efforts.

But how about learning from a master?

At Chef Studio, which is part of Abu Dhabi Culinary Season, Raj Dagstani, founder of popular Mina Zayed pizza spot Marmellata, will be leading two free classes delving into the art of baking.

All of the Chef Studio sessions will take place at the Central Kitchens area of The Galleria Al Maryah Island, on level three of the mall.

The classes, organised by the Department of Culture and Tourism Abu Dhabi and Time Out are all free and the full line-up can be found here. More details on the sessions taking palce over the National Day weekend can be found here.

Dagstani’s first session will take place at 5pm on Thursday, December 3 when he he will show a lucky six people how to bake farinata di cece, a chickpea flatbread. This session is now fully booked.

After spending ten years working in Michelin-starred restaurants in New York City, Dagstani opened up an artisanal jam company with his children, Dagstani & Sons. The multi-talented baker also has a background in sculpture and marble carving, and he discovered his love for Italian food while visiting the quarries of Carrara. He is committed to the traditions of Italian bread and pizza making, and hopes to create simple, delicious food.

His second appearance at Chef Studio will take place on Tuesday December 15 at 4pm. Watch this space for which exciting recipe he will be showing the students that bag a place.

With only six spots available for each session, they will be filled on a first come, first served basis.
