Planning a visit to the Garden City?

The UAE is still relatively young and will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2021 but Bedouins have been living in this country for thousands of years.

Long before the cities of the UAE became built-up areas with luxury hotels, restaurants and stunning architecture, the country was home to many who lived off of the land and knew how to make the most of a harsh desert climate.

By the foot of Jebel Hafeet, Abu Dhabi’s highest peak, there are archaeological treasures dating back more than 5,000 years to the Neolithic period.

Showcasing natural history and offering residents the opportunity to enjoy memorable experiences, Jebel Hafeet Desert Park opened in early 2020 to share the UNESCO World Heritage Site with the world.

What is it?

Jebel Hafeet Desert Park is a new attraction in Al Ain that showcases the natural beauty and historical significance of the highest peak in Abu Dhabi and UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Guests can spend the night camping or enjoy a number of activities as well as exploring the Neolithic tombs that date back 5,000 years.

The attraction opened to the public in 2020.

Where is it?

Jebel Hafeet Desert Park is located at the foot of Jebel Hafeet.

The entry to the park is located off of Zayed Bin Sultan Street, to the South of Al Ain city.

What activities and attractions are there?

Guests can stay the night camping, go on a buggy, take a camel or horse ride, hire a bike and go hiking.

Photographic opportunities are also available to get pictures of Jebel Hafeet and the surrounding area.

How much do activities cost?

Entry to the park costs Dhs10. For adults and Dhs5 for children under the age of 12.

Activities vary in price. Bike hire starts from Dhs25, camel and horse rides from Dhs30, guided hiking from Dhs55 and a guided buggy tours from Dhs120

Can I see the Neolithic tombs?

On site there are ruins of the 5,000 year-old tombs and restored tombs that are both open to the public.

To visit guests must either go on a guided hike for Dhs55 or hire a buggy to escort them to the site for Dhs120.

Guests are not permitted to touch or enter the tombs when in the area.

Is there a public campsite?

Residents are able to bring camping equipment and spend the night at the public campsite located within the park.

It costs Dhs250 to access the site and available facilities include a shared toilet and a fire pit with stone seating.

The public campsite is big enough for four adults and two children in total at one time.

Check-in begins from 3pm and check-out the following day is at noon.

There are also traditional tents available to rent for the night for Dhs400 and new bubble tents and luxury tents will also be available soon.

When is it open?

The park is open daily from 8am to 6pm.
