Emirates Airways new onboard menus – here’s what to expect

Mains, breakfast, appetisers and desserts you can look forward to

Do you board every flight with snacks stowed in your carry-on luggage because you can’t stomach airplane food? You’re not alone.

From downright boring to questionable, edible food is hard to come by when you’re 31,000 plus feet in the sky, but the Emirates new onboard menus is a strong contender.  

Passengers across classes can look forward to newly-revamped menus when flying on this exceptional airline.

Hungry to know what you’ll be served? If you’re en route to Dubai from London, India or South Africa, here are meals to look forward to if you’re flying first, business and economy class. 

Depending on your flight, your menu may differ or change, but complimentary hot and cold drinks are always available. Here is everything you need to know about the Emirates new onboard menu.

London to Dubai

First and Business class

If you’ll be flying during breakfast, you’ll get to have your choice of an omelette, vegetable frittata, cereal or muesli topped with berries and milk. 

For something heartier, tuck into sliced grilled chicken, roasted beef striploin, anari and halloumi with parsley, served with pickled olives and hard-boiled egg. 

For dinner or lunch, you can look forward to caviar with toppings of your choice, sandwiches topped with roasted chicken, herbed halloumi, veal or cheddar. 

Vegetarians can enjoy a tofu and pumpkin poke bowl and meat lovers can enjoy fragrant masala lamb chops. Sweet treats, lemon drizzle cake or chocolate brownies are a must. 

Economy class

You’ll get to spoon up Greek yoghurt topped with granola and berry compote for breakfast. Seasonal fruit, a cheese omelette, chickpea crepes and bread of your choice are also available. 

A Falafel with tahini sandwich is also on the menu, served with tea, coffee and a selection of drinks. 

Flying during dinner? Choose between braised beef with vegetables or murgh shahjahani, chicken in a rich creamy sauce served with cumin rice and okra masala. For something sweet, an apple and blackberry torte is a must. 

India to Dubai

First and Business class

The appetiser offerings on this flight are winning with murgh malai tikka, spiced chicken sliced and served with pickled red onions and mango pineapple salsa or spinach bil zeit. 

For mains, you can enjoy lamb shank and shahi paneer, cottage cheese in creamy gravy, served with sautéed green beans and nawabi pulao.

There’s a selection of fresh bread, including paratha and garlic bread. Dessert includes Indian sweet meat kala jamun, pistachios and raspberry yoghurt cake with popping candy. 

Economy class

Mains include chicken tikka masala served with jeera rice and aloo palak. Pasta imli chaat, spiced pasta with tamarind and vegetables is on the appetiser menu and malai kheer, creamy rice pudding topped with almonds and pistachios, ends your meal on a sweet note. 

South Africa to Dubai

First and Business class

For breakfast, you can choose between an omelette served with grilled chicken sausage, lyonnaise potatoes and creamed spinach or smoked salmon with cream cheese, hard-boiled egg, capers, cucumber and onions.

If you’d prefer something lighter, you can have the cereal of your choice. 

Appetisers feature coconut and white bean soup, rooibos-cured salmon and traditional Arabic mezze, including moutabel, houmous and muhammara. 

Dinner will be a hit with jalapeño-crusted kingklip, vegetable biryani and grilled beef steak. 

Dessert includes a mocha fondant lava cake and passion fruit and yoghurt mousse

Economy class

Gate a protein boost first thing with either scrambled eggs or a tomato omelette for breakfast. A selection of cheese, fresh fruit and bread are also available. 

Refreshing tomato salad can be enjoyed before your mains which includes South Africa’s national dish, Bobotie and aromatic piri piri chicken. 

For something decadent, choose between sweet milk tart served with crème anglaise.
