The new data analyse crashes, incidents and COVID-19 compliance

UAE airlines Emirates Airline and Etihad Airways have both come in the top ten of the safest airlines of 2021 in new data from AirlineRankings.com.

Dubai’s Emirates Airline was fifth in the list, while Abu Dhabi’s airline Etihad Airways came in seventh.

Australia’s Qantas topped the rankings, while other airlines making it into the top ten include Air New Zealand, Singapore Airlines and Alaska Airlines.

British Airways, Virgin Australia / Atlantic and Lufthansa were among those that made it into the top 20.

“Our top 20 safest airlines 2021 are always at the forefront of safety innovation, operational excel-lence, and the launching of new more advanced aircraft like the Airbus A350 and Boeing 787,” said AirlineRatings.com Editor-in-Chief Geoffrey Thomas.

Launched in 2013, AirlineRatings rates the safety, in-flight product and COVID-19 compliance of 385 airlines.
AirlinesRatings analyses “crashes, serious incidents, audits from aviation’s governing bodies and lead associations; government audits, and fleet age”.

Both Emirates and Ethihad also ranked in the top 20 airlines for COVID-19 compliance, with AirlineR-atings saying all 20 had “gone above and beyond in the protection of passengers, or in adding flexi-bility to travel”. The top 20 were noted as “trendsetters for making travel as safe as possible”.

Emirates was highlighted due to its health insurance policy and individual health kits.
