10-day self-isolation for those travelling to the UK from the UAE

The UK has removed the UAE from its travel corridor list

People travelling from the UAE to the UK will now have to self-isolate for ten days.

The UK government has confirmed that the UAE is to be removed from the travel corridor list following a rise in COVID-19 cases in the country.

The change is from Tuesday January 12.

All travellers arriving into England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland will have to self-isolate if they have been in the UAE.

The UK Foreign Office has also updated its travel advice to advise “against all but essential travel” to the UAE.

This is due to a rise in cases over the past seven days in the UAE. Those travelling back to the UK are encouraged to follow UAE rules while in the country, return home as normal and check foreign office travel advice.

All passengers arriving in England and Scotland, from all destinations around the world also have to show a negative PCR test, taken up to three days before departing. Travellers will need to show this, as well as a passenger locator form.

The UK government has said that the UK Border Force will conduct “spot checks” on arrival in England to ensure this is happening. In the UK all must stay home unless travelling for a limited set of reasons, and fines for breaking these rules go up to £6,400 (around Dhs32,000).

The UK-UAE air corridor opened on November 14, meaning that travellers no longer had to self-isolate on arrival in the UK from the UAE.
