The UAE Ministry of Education launches fitness campaign for kids

They have even had a message from F1 driver Lewis Hamilton

Kids spending too much time on the sofa and in front of a screen? The UAE Ministry of Education has launched a new fitness campaign to promote healthy living among kids in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

The Daily Mile UAE has a brand-new campaign to help kiddos stay healthy and happy during school time.

The idea behind the Daily15 campaign is encourage school children to stay engaged and physically active.

Little ones are being asked to take part in exercises based on the number 15 such as 15 minutes of running, 15 jumping jacks at the start of each lesson or 15 single exercises spread throughout the school day.

Teachers, mums and dads looking for inspiration can look up exercise ideas on The Daily Mile website www.thedailymile.ae and social media platforms where suggestions will be shared weekly.

Best of all, it is suitable for students who are distance learning as well as those who are back in the classroom.

The new programme has even caught the eye of F1 champion Lewis Hamilton who sent a video of encouragement. You can see what he had to say here.

And there are prizes up for grabs too. The five students and five teachers that complete 558km (the same distance as the UAE’s longest road, the E11) through daily 15 minute runs, could win Dhs500 of sportswear each.

Plus, you can also win prizes by sharing pictures and videos of you exercising on the Daily Mile social media channels.

Assistant Undersecretary – Activities Sector at UAE Ministry of Education, Dr. Amna AlDahak AlShamsi, said, “The Ministry places great emphasis on the health and well-being of UAE students. We welcome this latest campaign from The Daily Mile UAE in partnership with ADNOC – an initiative we are proud to support.

“Protecting the physical and mental health of all students, and ensuring their motivation, is central to our efforts while the coronavirus pandemic continues.” she added. “Their well-being is core to our sector’s efficient recovery and the continuity of world class education. We look forward to seeing all students benefit from #Daily15.”
