Beats on the Beach headliners announced

Free Yasalam concerts revealed as part of Abu Dhabi Grand Prix celebrations

It’s the largest free music festival in the UAE, and this year it really will feature something for everybody.

The 2013 edition of Abu Dhabi’s Beats on the Beach will star a mix of Western and Arabic stars, as well as hosting a third night of Filipino stars for the first time.

Taking place over the Grand Prix race weekend, from October 31 to November 2, topping the bill will be star US R&B star Ciara and Lebanese singer Assi El Helani.

Meanwhile ‘Mr Pure Energy’ Gary Valenciano and ‘Dance Diva’ Vina Morales will headline a new opening evening of Filipino musicians.

Also performing will be a string of local rock acts including Jay Wud, Beat Antenna and Bull Funk Zoo, plus Arabic performers including Arab Idol finalists Salma Rachid and Mohammed Assaf, and the UAE’s very own Shamma Hamdan, the first Emirati women to appear on Arab’s Got Talent.

The line-up sees a move away from the big international acts which have performed at the free event in the past, with Missy Elliott, Cee Lo Green and Mel C headlining last year.

The concerts are part of the 50-day Yasalam festival, which culminate with the concerts at Abu Dhabi Corniche to coincide with the F1 weekend.

Kicking off on September 15, this year the festival also offers a ‘Get Driver Fit’ training sessions, an F1 Fanzone on the corniche for 11-days in the lead up race day, a car parade and even a new world record attempt.
