Say hello to our insider’s guide to everything you need on your radar this October

When I arrived in Abu Dhabi this August, I fainted. Dramatic, I know. But I’m sure you’ll agree when I say, thank goodness the summer is over! Thankfully, there are lots of outdoor-friendly things to discover in the latest issue of Time Out Abu Dhabi.

It’s been a tough few months, but the good news is that we can finally escape the aircon and enjoy the outdoors.

The latest issue of Time Out Abu Dhabi is finally on shelves, and this month we’ve packed it full of fun things for you to discover and explore across the city.

In fact, October is set to be a busy one. We have NBA (and basketball legend) Shaquille O’Neal arriving in the capital, as well as plenty of other celebrations including Oktoberfest, Halloween and Diwali.

Plus, there are so many reasons why you shouldn’t be sleeping on Al Ain. The Garden City, as its known, is home to wonderful things to do if you fancy a weekend away from the hustle and bustle of Abu Dhabi. Hey, I’ve already packed my bags (and we make a very convincing case for Al Ain on page 16).

Elsewhere, you’ll find some incredible spots for diving and snorkelling, as well as all the events happening across the UAE for Oktoberfest. Who doesn’t want to gorge themselves on Bavarian hops and pretzels? There are so many places to enjoy Oktoberfest across Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Doha, that with plenty of live entertainment, dancing, food and drinks for you to enjoy.

In the latest issue of Time Out Abu Dhabi, we also have something for those who love to eat on a shoestring budget. Who says you need to spend a fortune to fill your tum? We gave ourselves the challenge to find the best eats for under Dhs10 (yes, you heard us!) across the capital, so get out there and try them all. They are delicious, FYI.

And if you’re feeling a little bit lost in life or career (who isn’t?) there’s a game for that. Actually, there are many simulation games available to buy now that can help you out of your existential crisis and into a life full of joy, happiness, and, well chasing your dreams. Check out The Sims 4‘s latest expansion pack and F1 Manager 2022 for when you want to escape the real world.

Now you don’t have to worry about the scorching heat, you can finally enjoy sinking into a sun bed without frying. There are so many luxurious — yet affordable — beach clubs in the capital you won’t ever want to leave.

Whether you’re an Abu Dhabi native, visitor, or newbie, there are so many events, openings and shows to look forward to this month, like Ravi Coltrane’s jazz masterclass, the new Impressionism exhibition at Louvre Abu Dhabi, and even a brand new Gatsby brunch.

Boredom? We don’t know her.
