There’s something thrilling about thrashing around the dunes, spraying sand into the air and gripping the side of your chair in the stunning desert that needs to be experienced.
That being said, speeding out the desert in any old vehicle won’t do and if you’re not prepared you can end up getting stuck and looking pretty silly.
Helping you to experience the thrill of off-roading and more exciting activities, a brand new adventure park has opened in Sharjah.
XQuarry, located in Al Faya Mountain in Mleiha deset, is the newest adventure park in the country, packed with loads of exciting activities.
Set among a one-million sq m cement quarry in the desert, you can try off-roading, obstacle races, hikes and remote- control cars among other activities.
For those looking to try off-roading, a total of 15km of tracks, of varying skill levels, are available and feature a range of obstacles on gravel, rocks and mud roads.
Looking to stay on your feet? You can try the 2km obstacle running course that will have you climbing, jumping, crawling, swinging, balancing and more. Plus, we’re told you may even get wet.
Saddle up and you can try mountain biking along a 10km trail that takes you up and down hills and meandering through curves and bumps.
If you’re after something a little less fast, you can take on the hiking trails, taking in the scenic views of the area from the hills and even trying rocky scrambles and cliffs towards the mountain peak.
“Mleiha, home to rich history and landscapes, is already well-known among the travellers for the diverse desert experiences,” said Ahmed Obaid Al Qaseer, COO, Sharjah Investment and Development Authority.
“The new adventure park, being first of its kind in the UAE, will provide a set of completely different experiences for off-roading enthusiasts and adventure lovers and will give more reasons to explore Sharjah’s central region.”
