Abu Dhabi scraps COVID test requirement to cross the border

Al Hosn app required to cross Abu Dhabi border

Text messages will no longer be accepted

Abu Dhabi has updated the requirements for crossing the border.

Under the new procedures, which came into place on Monday February 1, all those showing a negative test at the border are required to show a test result on the Al Hosn application.

The free to download mobile app is available for both Apple and Android devices and provides real time data on testing in the UAE.

Anyone who gets a test will have the results updated on the app as soon as the result is available.

Abu Dhabi police have asked the public to use the application to show results instead of text messages or certificates.

Currently, everyone entering Abu Dhabi will have to have a negative PCR test from the past 48 hours, or a negative DPI test from the past 24 hours to access the emirate.

If you’re entering with a negative PCR test, you’ll need to take a second and third PCR test on the fourth and eighth days in the emirate.

If you’re arriving in Abu Dhabi with a negative DPI test, you’ll need to take a PCR test on day three and day seven in the emirate.

There are fines for those who don’t take the tests on the right days.

Vaccinated people and those participating in the National Vaccination Programme are exempt, but must produce an active icon on the Al Hosn Application.

Those arriving internationally from countries on the green list are required to take a PCR test on arrival and again on day six in the country but do not need to quarantine.

Those arriving from all other countries must quarantine for ten days and get a PCR test on day eight to end quarantine on day ten.
