Expo 2020 Dubai sends scarlet salute to Hope Probe

Mission to Mars at exciting stage

Expo 2020 Dubai has joined the nationwide scarlet salute to the UAE’s mission to Mars by bathing the Al Wasl dome in a rich red hue.

The jewel in the Expo crown was illuminated as Hope Probe reached the final stages of its approach to the Red Planet, scheduled for Tuesday February 9.

Some 250 laser projectors were switched on to join other famous landmarks across Dubai – including the Burj Khalifa, Burj Al Arab, Global Village, Dubai World Trade Centre, The Dubai Frame, The Museum of the Future – in marking the momentous occasion.

In Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Zayed Bridge, Emirates Palace, Qasr Al Watan, Khalifa University, Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM), Yas Island, Marina Mall, Abu Dhabi Municipality, and Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium have also donned a now familiar crimson glow.

Her Excellency Reem Al Hashimy, UAE Minister of State for International Co-operation and Director General Expo 2020 Dubai, said: “The Emirates Mars Mission is a true testament of our nation’s ambitious and tenacious spirit and a moment of significant pride not only for the UAE, but for our entire region as the first interplanetary mission from the Arab world.”

The UAE’s mission to Mars is coming to a critical junction after a seven-month voyage into space that has seen Hope Probe travel.
