New electric powered buses launched in Abu Dhabi

Battery powered transport is here

Not so long ago electric vehicles were a thing a science fiction alongside flying cars and skateboards.

Now, we’re not fazed by seeing motors charging up at parking lots across the country as motoring has slowly but surely embraced to power of electricity.

In a boost to the local environment, Abu Dhabi has announced the introduction of new zero-emission public transportation.

Laucnhed by Al Fahim Group and Yinlong Energy, new Lithium Titanate Oxide (LTO) electric buses have launched in the emirate, powered by batteries that can be charged in 20 minutes.

The fleet of electric buses can help to reduce the carbon footprint of the UAE with one electric bus replacing a diesel powered bus reducing the equivalent of 27 passenger driven cars a year and over 12,000 gallons of diesel fuel over a ten year period.

“Abu Dhabi has always been a pioneer in incorporating state-of-the-art, environmentally friendly technologies into its infrastructure and operations,” said Mohammed Abdulla Abdul Jaleel Al Fahim, group head business development from Al Fahim Group.

“Nowhere is this more apparent than in its public transport services. We at Al Fahim are committed to investing resources to implement as well as accelerate the sustainability agenda of the UAE leadership.

“We are proud to play a pioneering role in the roll out of the green fleet of buses in the UAE.”

We look forward to seeing even more electric busses rolling around the capital soon.
