Curated by Time Out’s global editors

Headlines are always changing, and knowing which ones to read is important.

That’s why we’ve enlisted our cross-continental cousins to bring you the coolest and most laugh-out-loud news from all corners of the globe.

Here are some of our favourite recent stories from the Time Out family.

London

Recipe for success
Hark! The culinary gods have descended to Earth to impart their wisdom. No fewer than 54 of Britain’s shiniest chefs have contributed recipes to a forthcoming book that will raise money for Hospitality Action, the excellent charity that supports out-of-work restaurant workers. ‘Chefs at Home’ features big, sexy names like Marcus Waring, Jamie Oliver, Angela Hartnett, Tom Kerridge, Ben Tish and lovely Raymond Blanc. What makes it all a bit special is each recipe is something that the chefs cooked up at home while lockdown raged around them. They’re just like us!

New York

The dulcet tones of Jerry Seinfeld, Whoopi Goldberg, Debi Mazar, Desus & Mero and even noted New Yorker Fran Lebowitz will soon be commonplace on the Big Apple’s subway system. The Metropolitan Transportation Authority has teamed up with Nicolas Heller, the “unofficial talent scout of New York City,” to find the perfect New Yorkers to provide the new voices of the MTA. And that means the rather robotic “Stand clear of the closing doors” message may soon be a thing of the past).

Paris

The grass will be greener
The French capital is leading the charge when it comes to carving out an environmentally-sound vision of city life. Its mayor, Anne Hidalgo, has placed green policies at the forefront her campaigns ever since she was first elected in 2014. By 2030, even Paris’s most famous street, the Champs-Élysées, will be turned into an ‘extraordinary garden’ as part of a massive €250 million makeover.

Singapore

Book it
‘How To Charge Rent From Someone Living In My Heart,’ reads a title most people can relate to, splashed across a massive book. Behind it, hides a woman wearing a mask and huge, star-shaped sunglasses. Get acquainted with @womanwithbooks, a 28-year-old digital creator that’s on her way to becoming Singapore’s latest rising star. Her posts may just be seemingly-simply shots taken on the MRT, but a lot of effort goes into the whole process. “I come up with the book titles and design the book covers and then send them to a print shop,” she says. “I don’t have a team behind this but I do have lovely friends to support me along the way.”
