UAE leading country in the Middle East for remote working

Has your home turned into an office?

We’ve all spent a lot more time at home over the past year and for many of us our homes quickly became our offices.

Gone was the small talk with colleagues, waiting to use the scanner and complaining about the bad wifi to your co-workers who are busy microwaving their lunch.

The reality of working from home became keeping your pajamas in between Zoom calls, being surrounded by empty cups of coffee, blasting through our to-do lists and trying not to get distracted by doorbells, noisy kids and deliveries.

If you can relate to all this then we feel you, we’ve been there too.

The good news is, as far as working from home goes, the UAE is a great place to be if you’re not back working from the office.

According to research by cloud based communications company Circle Loop, the UAE is the leading country in the Middle East for remote working.

The UAE ranked ahead of countries including Italy, Japan, Hong Kong, Ireland, Malaysia, Russia, the United States and China.

The Digital Nomad Index was based on a number of factors including fixed broadband speed, mobile internet speed, working holiday visas, acceptance of migrants, average rent for a one bedroom apartment and the World Happiness Score.

On each factor countries were ranked out of 100 and were then given an average score to determine the leading destinations for remote working.

The UAE was ranked first in the Middle East for its readiness to facilitate remote working and 31st globally.

The UAE also ranked in second place for having cheap and reliable internet connections, helping the population to stay connected ranking behind Singapore.

According to the study the average mobile internet speeds range from 129.62 Mbps to 898.35 Mbps respectively.

So if you have to work remotely then at least you’re in a good place to keep on top of your workload.
