How happy are citizens and residents living in the UAE?

The survey says…

There’s loads to love about living in the UAE.

Year-round sunshine, check. Amazing restaurants, check. Stunning staycations, check. Beaches, pools and cultural attractions, triple-check.

We’ve got it good, we know it and we’re happy to be a part of it.

Aiming to improve the wellbeing of all those that live in the country, the National Happiness and Wellbeing survey was launched in February 2020.

The survey, launched by The National Program for Happiness and Wellbeing under the Ministry of Community Development, targeted 10,000 people in the UAE over the age of 15 as part of the National Wellbeing Strategy 2031.

Two thirds of respondents were Emirati and one third expats, covering a range of the population including young people, students, housewives, unemployed citizens, retirees, people of determination and working professionals.

Each surveyed person answered 300 questions under three distinct pillars: developed countries, interdependent society, and individuals’ wellbeing.

According to the survey, 93 percent of people are proud to live in the UAE and 8 out of ten reported that they believe they are living a meaningful life.

In addition, 92 percent said they felt safe walking alone at night and a further 84 percent is optimistic about the future.

Results from the survey will help to shape future projects and initiatives to improve the happiness and wellbeing of all people who live in the country.

Are we happy to live in the UAE? You bet we are.
