Wednesday August 1

Experience Moroccan iftar: Millennium Hotel are offering a daily iftar buffet at Citrus Restaurant, complete with juices and a selection of Arabic specialities, prepared by their chefs.
The iftar is Dhs149 per person (half price for children from six-12 years) and is open from sundown until 10.30pm. Millennium Hotel, Khalifa St (02 614 6020).

Indulge in something sweet:
Are you not fasting and after a tasty snack? Head to Jones the Grocer where you can take home something delectable from the bakery section. Choose from crème brûlée, macarons, cheesecake and more. Grab one of their coffees while you are there too.

Watch a foreign film:
Take in a foreign movie at NYUAD. They’re screening Noise (Shor) by Director Gurvinder Singh and Alms for a Blind Horse (Anhey Gorhey da Daan) by Director Neeraj Ghaywan. The films will commence following a light iftar. Free event.

Enjoy Olympic cakes:
Invite some friends round to catch one of the big medal events and add a bit of quirk to the evening with dessert to match. Maison Sucre are celebrating the Olympic hype with cupcakes to match the month’s theme. They taste as yummy as they look.

Thursday August 2

Dine at Ikea for Ramadan: There really isn’t much you can’t get at Ikea and now you can even have iftar there. For the month of Ramadan, Ikea are offering an iftar menu at their in-store restaurant. Every day they will have a different menu of soup, vegetables and Arabic dishes.

Have an artful iftar:
Head to the Radisson Blu for iftar and catch the exhibition they’re hosting throughout Ramadan. All the artists will donate 10 percent of the profit made to the Hamad Centre – the education placement for children with autism. Until August 20. Have a family iftar on Yas Island: If you’re after a change of scenery then an iftar at Yas Island is just the ticket. Crowne Plaza’s Jing Asia Restaurant will cost you Dhs140 per person. After eating you can relax in the garden while the children play in the kids’ club.

Try go-karting:
