5 of our favourite places on the Corniche

There’s never a dull moment on the Corniche

You probably already know the Corniche, or at least you should do.

You know those pictures of the city skyline that you see everywhere on the ’gram? That’s the Corniche – the lengthy 8km waterfront stretch of the city that runs all the way from Mina Zayed in the East to Emirates Palace in the West.

A hive of activity, there’s never a dull moment on the Corniche. Midnight strolls on the beach, sunning yourself on the pristine sands, cycling down the track, feasting your way through all the cute cafés and cool restaurants – the list goes on.

Looking to inject a bit of culture into your life? There are loads of tourist attractions including the aforementioned Emirates Palace, Qasr Al Watan, The Founder’s Memorial, and the Heritage Village but if shopping is what you’re after then there’s Nation Towers, and just across the water there’s also Marina Mall.

In short – there’s a lot going on at the Corniche. If you’re planning to take a trip to Abu Dhabi’s most popular sandy stretch, here are our five top picks of places to check out. Corniche, here we come…

% Arabica

You might see the percentage sign symbol and think this stylish chain is some sort of cult, but it’s actually a brilliant coffee spot. Plus with milk alternatives for those who don’t do lactose, you can get the perfect cup of just about whatever you’re after.

A’l Bahar

One of the most popular destinations for topping up your tan is this stretch of sand located on the Corniche. With an outdoor gym, basketball and volleyball courts, shops, restaurants, cafés and gaming area, there’s plenty to see and do here if you get stir-crazy sunning yourself.
Open daily 10am-10pm. Corniche Road, www.al-bahar.ae.

Family Park

If you’re heading to the Corniche, chances are you’re thinking of a beach day. But those sands are outlined by some lovely parks, including Family Park. As the name suggests, Family Park has something for everyone, including a farm, theatre and BYKY bike hire.

The Third Place Café

Offering an escape from home and the office, The Third Place Café is a hugely popular venue for a bite to eat and for chilling with a good book. The WiFi is strong and the same can be said about the coffee. If you want to soak up the sun, take a seat outdoors to chill in the breeze.

The Cove at West Bay
