Yas Mall to undergo Dhs500m revamp

New stores, new restaurants and more

Yas Mall has been the centrepiece of Yas Island for a long time – and now it is getting a Dhs500m revamp to make sure it remains the jewel in the destination’s crown for years to come.

That means news shops, fresh restaurants and a slick new shopping experience for all of us who love hearing the ‘beep’ when tapping the plastic.

Aldar Investment is overseeing the redevelopment, which will be completed over the next 18 months.

Eagle-eyed shoppers will already have clocked the beginning of works in key areas of the mall.

The mall’s F&B offering is set to swell by some 40 percent, with a new food hall and outdoor terraces – incorporating local and international brands – to be set up at the North Entrance.

Situated in the heart of Yas Mall, the revamped Town Square will offer an al fresco-inspired dining [http://dev.timeoutabudhabi.com/restaurants] experience with clear views of events and activations (and people watching).

Sports fan? The Boulevard connecting Yas Mall with Ferrari World Abu Dhabi and CLYMB Abu Dhabi will become an all-new sports hub, comprising global brands in five concept and experiential stores.

But it doesn’t stop there. The plan will increase the mall’s health, beauty, and jewellery offering, and will welcome several international fashion brands, including the first Urban Outfitters store in Abu Dhabi, Kendall & Kylie and technological footwear brand Duozoulu.

A home furnishing district is also in the blueprints, introducing stores such as EBarza and Ethan Allen to the capital for the first time.

Bosses say the project will improve the customer journey within the mall, supported by the introduction of ‘way-finding’ technologies as well as an interactive digital art screen, which will replace the Water Fountain in Town Square.

There will also be a refurbishment of the parking areas, entrances, and welcome desks to further enhance the overall shopping experience.

Jassem Busaibe, Aldar Investment CEO, said: “Our transformational plan for the mall is in anticipation of evolving customer needs and in line with developing retail trends globally.

“The project will deliver a new and diversified offering to enrich the customer experience.

“We are also future-proofing a key asset that is at the heart of Yas Island and its many world-class attractions, drawing in more local and international visitors. It will also allow us to serve new communities growing around Yas Mall.

“This redevelopment is perfectly aligned with Abu Dhabi’s strategic vision to reinforce the capital’s position as a favourable destination for business, tourism, and living.”
