Must-book classes at Chef Studio 2021 at The Galleria Al Maryah Island

Hang on to your chef’s hat as Chef Studio is returning to The Galleria Al Maryah Island in Abu Dhabi, and you have some important cooking skills to get to grips with.

Time Out Abu Dhabi has teamed up with The Galleria to lay on a series of free cooking classes, kids’ activities and more as part of Chef’s Studio 2021 – and you’re not going to want to miss it.

The classes kick off at the mall from Thursday May 13 in Central Kitchens, Level 3, and run all the way through until Saturday May 22 – so you have plenty of time to whip up a creative masterpiece.

The pop-up cookery school is rounding up top chefs from the mall and around the island to take part in the sessions – and there’s absolutely loads to get involved with.

Thursday May 13

4pm: Cooking class
Longing for a Sri Lankan holiday but staying put in Abu Dhabi this summer? Transport yourself (in your mind at least) at home, by whipping up a traditional Sri Lankan dish. Chef Dilbar of Bombay Canteen will be showing you how to make a Sri Lankan fish curry – get ready to dive.

Kids massive fans of Magic Phil? You’re in luck as they can meet the man himself at a food-themed storytime. Sound like your family’s idea of a good time? Remember to secure your spot right now.
1pm: Product demo
Need some lessons on how to whip up tasty dishes using your Thermomix? Or perhaps you want to know how to make mealtimes at home easier. Don’t miss a special product demo on how the Thermomix has become a mealtime game-changer – and soon you’ll be sautéing, blending, slow-cooking, kneading and steaming your way to excellent dishes, all served up on your kitchen table.

Saturday May 15

Noon: Cooking class
Chef Manish from Signature by Sanjeev Kapoor will be showing off how to make one of the restaurant’s signature dishes – so if you’re fan of this restaurant from the celebrity chef, it’s time to get booking.

Sunday May 16

Noon: Cooking class
Ready to show off your new-found cookery skills to your friends? It’s time to learn how to whip up a mean tom yum soup with chef Yung from Urban Wok.

Monday May 17

11am: Cooking class
If you love Mexican food this one is for you – especially if you’re keeping an eye on your health and fitness. Global chain Tortilla has a top Mexican-inspired healthy eating menu, and the restaurant’s chef Elie Bittar is going to be showing you how to make the dishes at home for your family and friends.

Wednesday May 19

1.30pm: Essential talk
If you’re looking to switch to a more clean-eating diet, it’s easier (and less boring) than you might think. And to give you some helpful tips and point you in the right direct is Madar Farms, who are on hand to share their expert advice on how to pick the best ingredients for when you’re cooking at
4pm: Cooking class
Everyone loves tacos – and everyone loves Loca. So this class is sure to fill up quickly. Get ready to whip up the popular Mexican restaurant’s tasty beef tenderloin tacos with chef Juan Flores Nava at The Galleria this month.
8pm: Cooking class
If you’re in the mood for Lebanese food, you’re in the right place. Karam Beirut Street Kitchen’s chef Zouheir Ahmad teaches a class on creating a Lebanese classic – oriental rice with chicken and gravy sauce. Get ready for your family to be amazed.

Thursday May 20

11am: Cooking class
The katsu sando is the dish of the moment, and you no longer have stare longingly at Instagram pics. You can now learn how to make your own version of the popular sandwich with the help of award-winning restaurant 99 Sushi’s chefs Ruben Guerrero Simon and Marthinus Van Der Westhuizen,
4pm: Cooking class
Sweet tooth? Branch out from your usual desserts by learning something totally different this month. Chef Cirprian of M’Oishi leads a class on classic Japanese desserts, which are sure to gain you favour with the fam.

Friday May 21
