Eid Al-Fitr to start on May 13

Announcement marks the end of Ramadan

Eid Al-Fitr will begin tomorrow (Thursday May 13), UAE authorities have announced.

The end of Ramadan, which precedes the Eid Al-Fitr celebrations, is signalled by the astrological positioning of the moon, and is confirmed by the UAE Moon Sighting Committee.

And because the Shawwal crescent was not sighted in the UAE sky on Tuesday, it means that today (Wednesday May 12) will be the final day of Ramadan.

Here in Abu Dhabi, celebrations are just about to get underway, with hotels and resorts laying on some incredible deals so that friends and family can mark Eid Al-Fitr in style.
