You’ll need to be vaccinated to attend events in the UAE from June 6

What you need to know, and where to get your vaccine booked

Sports nut? Culture vulture? Just a massive fan of any and all type of exhibition? Listen up, because from next month you’ll need to be fully vaccinated to take in much of the UAE’s social calendar.

The National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) has confirmed that from Sunday June 6 only those who have received both doses of the jab – confirmed by the letter ‘E’ displaying on the Al Hosn app – will be permitted to attend a wide array of public events.

Additionally, attendees will also need to show a negative PCR test taken 48 prior to entry.

In a tweet, NCEMA officials said: “Attending all events, exhibitions, activities and events, including sports, cultural, social and art, is restricted to vaccine recipients and participants in the vaccine clinical trials only.”

Another post added: “Immunisation of the community by taking the vaccine is the best way to achieve immunity and go through the recovery stage. Therefore, we call on everyone to get vaccinated and support the national recovery efforts.”

At the time of writing, more than 78 percent of the population aged 16 and over had been inoculated. The UAE vaccine rate per 100 people is also currently the highest in the world.
