UAE students to take COVID-19 test before exams

Ministry of Education has announced new protocols for 12th grade students

The UAE’S National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) and Ministry of Education have announced that all students taking their 12th grade exams this June as required to present a negative COVID-19 test.

The newly announced COVID-19 protocol applies to all grade 12 students across both public and private schools in the UAE, plus administrative, educational, and support staff (including security, catering, and cleaning staff), as well as the parents or guardians of people with determination.

The COVID-19 test must be taken within four days prior to the exam and the negative PCR test result must be printed from the Al Hosn app and presented to relevant admissions facilitators before entering the school.

The Ministry of Education also stated that students infected with COVID-19 or those who have been in close contact with someone infected with the virus are exempt from taking their exam.

Students will be required to present a valid certificate indicating they have COVID-19 or proof that they have had close contact.

The Ministry of Education will later announce a new exam date for those who are not able to attend their exams.

12th grade exams are set to be held this June and it’s also been advised that students must be at their school 30 minutes before the exam is scheduled to start to ensure that all COVID-19 guidelines are adhered to and to help streamline the examination process.

The new protocol also states that parents and those accompanying students must not mix with other students and must limit their presence in vehicles and transportation means.
