Food photography workshop launches at Manarat Al Saadiyat

Calling all photographers…

Have you always wanted to be a food photographer? Thinking about freelancing? Maybe you just really love taking photos of your food before you eat it (here’s looking at you, ‘grammers). If so, you should definitely add this to your list of things to do this summer.

A photography masterclass is launching at Manarat Al Saadiyat to teach you everything you need to know about food photography. The class is being taught by Jay Alonzo, a master photographer and photography teacher. The aim? To learn how to take the most delicious-looking photos of food.

The masterclass is happening from Friday June 25 to Saturday June 26. It runs from 4pm to 7pm on both days and is taking place at the Manarat Al Saadiyat’s theatre for Dhs650.

We all eat with our eyes, and while it may seem simple at first, food photography can be intimidating and challenging. Even with props and styling, food photos can look… ahem… bland.

This class will teach you all about the ingredients you need to create a flavourful image, with a focus on how to set up and light food properly.

Manarat Al Saadiyat is one of the spaces in Abu Dhabi totally dedicated to art, cultural activities, and community events.

Explore an exhibition, exchange ideas, try delicious food, attend a talk, or enjoy a movie.

It is also home to Abu Dhabi art, which is back in person this year in November. Read all about it here.
