Tourists cannot get vaccine in Abu Dhabi, authorities confirm

But people with an expired residency or entry visa can

Tourists visiting Abu Dhabi cannot receive COVID vaccinations in the capital, authorities have confirmed.

It was believed that holders of visas issued by the emirate, as well holders of passports eligible for visas on arrival with an entry stamp, had been given the green light to book an appointment for their jab via the Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (Seha) app.

However, Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Committee issued a statement via social media to clarify current regulations.

A tweet read: “Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Committee has issued a reminder that free Covid-19 vaccines are available to everyone with an expired residency visa or expired entry visa, which does not include holders of valid tourist or visit visas.”

Currently, doses of both the Sinopharm and Pfizer vaccines can booked via the Seha app.

A total of four vaccines are recognised by UAE authorities, including Sputnik V and Oxford-AstraZeneca as well as the two previously mentioned.

Meanwhile, the Alhosn app is being used to act as a green pass for citizens and residents to access malls, restaurants and cultural destinations (among others) in a safe and secure fashion.

It acts as a centralised system to track validity of PCR test results, and keeps track of your test history for future reference.

More than 85 percent of the UAE residents and citizens eligible to receive inoculation – those aged 16 and up – have now done so, with trials ongoing to test their effectiveness in children as young as three.
