It’s official – the UAE is the most vaccinated country on the planet when it comes to the COVID-19 jab.
Nearly 75 percent of the population of the Emirates has had at least one dose of the coronavirus vaccine, knocking the Seychelles off top spot.
The news comes after Bloomberg’s vaccine tracker data revealed that 73.8 percent of the some 9.7 million residents in the UAE had received their first jab compared to the Seychelles’ 71.7 percent.
More than 15 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been given since December when the drive to vaccinate the country began.
Currently some 64 percent of the UAE population is fully inoculated.
There are five COVID-19 vaccines in circulation in the UAE with Sinopharm and Pfizer-BioNTech the most widely distributed.

Those who have received the double dose of the Sinopharm vaccine will also be able to take a third booster jab of Sinopharm or Pfizer-BioNTech.
Russia’s Sputnik V and the Oxford-AstraZeneca are also available for use, with the Moderna vaccine approved for distribution by the Ministry of Health and Prevention on Sunday July 4.
PCR testing rates continue to regularly top 200,000 per day in the UAE with more than 54 million tests conducted.
The news follows hot on the heels of the introduction of a contract tracing assistant system in Abu Dhabi to help prevent the spread of the virus.
Those who receive a positive COVID-19 result will be sent an SMS link and be required to participate in a virtual chat with authorities to gather information such as whether the positive case is returning from abroad, has been in a workplace environment, and who the person has come into contact with in the last 48 hours.
