The ever-popular Dubai Sevens is back after a brief hiatus, and this year’s programme of live sport will be bolstered by the addition of more than just a few overs of cricket.
Yes, the thump of cork again willow will resonate around the stadium, with cricket 7s adding to a party atmosphere for Dubai’s legion of sports fans.
Some 48 teams will be taking to the crease on three world-class cricket ovals at The Sevens Stadium – the home of the annual Dubai Sevens showcase.
The tournament’s format will mirror the seven-a-side games of the rugby, with some additions to simplify the game.
The cricket tournament will take place from Thursday December 2 until Saturday December 4 alongside another supporting Sevens act, netball.

This year’s tournament is set to be one of the most vibrant in the event’s history with a burst of new activities, live performances and music.
Talented acts and plenty of places to refuel will adorn the three live stages along with the sport have been laid on by organisers. Talk about pushing the boundary.
Tickets for the event will go live on Wednesday September 1. The event itself is to be played at Dubai’s famous 7s Stadium and timings will be available from Monday November 15 on the 7s website.
Tournament director Tom Burwell said: “We are hugely excited to be able to further showcase sports & entertainment in the region with the addition of Cricket to our sporting family.
“Cricket is a sport loved worldwide and played by men and women from a wide variety of cultures and demographics.
“The Emirates Dubai 7s is already the biggest sports and entertainment festival in the region, with over 100,000 fans joining us over the three days.”
