Time Out Abu Dhabi can exclusively reveal the remaining acts for this year’s Womad line up are the Saharan blues legends Tinariwen, who will be playing a specially commissioned collaborative performance with New York’s TV on the Radio and Pakistan’s Mehdi. Cuban outfit Sierra Maestra will also be whipping the corniche crowd into a Latin fever, while Cape Verdean smoothy, Mayra Andrade, will bring a mellow mood to calm the crowds before Damian ‘Junior Gong’ Marley closes the festival. Junior Gong, the son of legendary reggae superstar Bob Marley, is not the only son-of-a-phenomenon; Femi Kuti, whose father Fela Kuti invented Afrobeat, comes with bags of political conscience, filling the space that Youssou N’Dour made his own at the inaugural Womad Abu Dhabi in 2009.
