High-speed aerial ropeway transport system is coming to Dubai

Self-driving cable cars will take Dubai residents to the skies

The future of transport is coming to Dubai, and it is high-speed, ultra-green, and tech-savvy.

The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority is planning to create a high-speed aerial ropeway transport system in partnership with French mobility specialist MND. These plans will take Dubai residents to new heights (and speeds) with transport that’s unlike anything we’ve ever seen before.

The two partners signed a MoU that aims to help Dubai achieve its vision of having 25 percent of trips across the city be self-driven by 2030. The CABLINE system will offer a totally new way to travel, integrating the city’s existing transport network with a fully automatic driverless system that will have you whizzing through the sky in no time.

Self-propelled cabins will move over ropes at speeds of up to 45 kilometres per hour. CABLINE will use the latest technology to create a modern, quiet, aesthetically pleasing ropeway transport system that will create the lowest possible carbon footprint.

The plans are being supported by the French State Agency for sustainable development, ADEME.

CABLINE will allow easy maintenance with a minimalist structure, and create a high availability rate and easy usage for passengers. We don’t know when the plans will begin to be implemented, but with so many futuristic and history-making innovations taking place across the city, there is plenty to look forward to.

Speaking of history-making, Expo 2020 Dubai is only a few months away, and we couldn’t be more excited.
