SeaWorld Abu Dhabi will be home to world’s largest aquarium

Expect to see sharks, manta rays and sea turtles

SeaWorld Abu Dhabi will house the largest aquarium on the planet when the ribbon to the newest Yas Island attraction is cut next year.

The marine-life park is on track for completion in 2022, and once operational will hold 25 million litres of water and house more than 68,000 marine animals, including sharks, schools of fish, manta rays and sea turtles.

Bosses have said that a main focal view of the aquarium will present visitors with what they are calling an ‘Endless Vista’, a 20m vertical window across multiple levels (the facility will have five indoor levels) revealing countless aquatic scenes.

Meanwhile, the adjoining Yas SeaWorld Research and Rescue Center will act as an education hub, focusing on indigenous Gulf and marine life ecosystems.

It will be the first dedicated marine research, rescue, rehabilitation and return complex of its kind in the UAE, and will undoubtedly prove a hit with nature-loving kiddos.

Accessible to visitors by reservation, the centre will also demonstrate the work from resident scientists and researchers.

Marc Swanson, CEO of SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment, said: “SeaWorld Abu Dhabi joins our North American parks in our mission and commitment to conservation efforts worldwide.

“We have hundreds of professionals focused on animal care, rescue and rehabilitation, conservation education, habitat protection, and species research and we are excited to see the Yas SeaWorld Research and Rescue Center further expand SeaWorld’s positive global impact with the vitally important marine life conservation efforts in the region.”
