Backstreet Boys to play Dubai 2014

Reformed US boyband to play Dubai World Trade Centre on March 28

Chart-topping US boyband the Backstreet Boys are winging their way to Dubai.

The reformed quintet will perform at Dubai World Trade Centre on March 28, according to news released on the band’s official website.

The gig will see the band return to these shores for the first time in more than four years, last spotted at Dubai Media City in December 2009.

Recently celebrating their 20th anniversary AJ, Howie, Nick, Kevin and Brian have aged rather noticeably since breaking the charts with early hits ‘Quit Playing Games (with My Heart)’ and ‘Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)’, released in 1996 and 1997 respectively.

But after the one-two success of hit albums Millennium (1999) and Black & Blue (2000) the band called it a day.

A 2005 reunion, for fifth LP Never Gone, was soured after Kevin Richardson left the band a year later – and it was this quartet incarnation of the band that visited Dubai in 2009.

But local fans will be relieved to hear that the singer returned in mid 2012, with the full quintet’s ‘In a World Like This’ mega-tour now rolling on from 2013 into this year, including the stop in Dubai.

Ticket details were yet to be revealed at the time of press, with no formal announcement of the gig beyond its appearance on the band’s touring schedule found on their official website.
