The Impossible

Ewan McGregor and Naomi Watts in first movie about Indian Ocean tsunami

From Spanish director Juan Antonio Bayona (The Orphanage), The Impossible is the first film to be made about the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami. Writer Sergio G Sanchez has chosen to focus on one family’s experience as they are caught up with thousands of strangers in one of the worst recent natural disasters. Ewan McGregor and Naomi Watts star as the parents, while Bayona enlists the same writer, production manager, cinematographer, composer and editor that he used in The Orphanage. The film was shot on location in Thailand and even uses real survivors as extras.
