Plug pulled on 2014 edition of regional cinema celebration

The seventh edition of the regional cinema celebration was set to begin on April 9, with a week of screenings scheduled to take place at Dubai’s Mall of the Emirates, showcasing more than 120 movies from across the GCC.

However news broke that the event had been postponed, with no new date confirmed, when a statement from organisers at the Dubai International Film Festival was released on Tuesday April 1.

The statement read: ‘We regret to inform you that the seventh edition of The Gulf Film Festival which was scheduled to run from 9th – 15th April, 2014 has been postponed due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control. We would like to thank friends and partners of the Festival for their continuous support and we will announce the new Festival dates in due course.’
