This is the debut from writer/director/star Martin Donovan, one of those jobbing actors you recognise, but can’t remember where from (could be Insomnia? Perhaps The Sentinel?). Here he plays a once-hot New York playwright who dejectedly returns to his home town, where he is taken hostage by an alcoholic neighbour following a crime spree. Confined together, the two men share their hopes, fears and thoughts on the universe. A minor but professional indie movie that picked up solid but not rave reviews on the festival circuit, it’s screening exclusively at The Picturehouse in The Dubai Mall.
