Sector 7

Preview of Korean monster movie and first Asian film to be shot in 3D

‘Sector 7’ is an area of water where ominously-named oil rig The Eclipse rests. After months of drilling, no oil is found, but a determined crew make one last excavation which, of course, goes horribly wrong. Something is out there. The resulting B-movie of a plot meshes James Cameron’s underwater epic The Abyss and Ridley Scott’s horror sci-fi Alien, but as the first Asian film ever to be shot in 3D it picked up rave reviews in its Korean homeland.

The writer and director are relatively unknown to a Western audience, but the film stars one of Korea’s most famous actors in Sung-kee Ahn, known internationally from 2001’s The Warrior.
