Yasalam guide in Abu Dhabi

Find out more about the entertainment spectacular in Abu Dhabi

Now in its fifth year of celebrations, the Yasalam festival continues to build on the positive messages of competitive motorsport: healthy living, social interaction and car loads of fun. For an incredible 50 days – from September to November – Yasalam has been bringing another blockbuster programme of festivities to residents and visitors across the UAE capital.

Getting Yasalam started has been ‘Get Driver Fit’ brought to you by Activelife by Daman. With free daily training sessions and weekly opportunities to learn new skills across Abu Dhabi, ‘Get Driver Fit’ has left a legacy of health and wellbeing for everyone in the UAE capital.

As the big race weekend approaches, the world’s only official F1 FanZone® is back on the Corniche with 11 days of free activities and entertainment for race fans young and old, including autograph signings with top racing drivers, skills and reaction challenges, simulators, special edition merchandise, with all the Grand Prix action screened live, plus a host of other adrenaline-charged activities.

Also returning is Beats on the Beach, the UAE’s biggest free music festival. A series of award-winning musicians from around the world will perform live on the Corniche over three nights (31 October – 2 November), including Filipino music icons Gary Valenciano and Vina Morales, Lebanese star Assi El Hellani, American pop starlet Ciara, UAE multi-instrumentalist Shamma Hamdan, Arab Idol winner Mohammed Assaf and runner up Salma Rachid, and some local talent including Jay Wud, Beat Antenna, Chronicles of Khan and Bull Funk Zoo.

There is even more happening around the festival with a new Guinness World Record attempt for the most people twirling chequered flags, and the people of Abu Dhabi are invited to play their part.

The public participation theme continues with the newly added car parade. The first Yas Island car parade was on 25 October, with the local community urged to decorate their cars in a ‘wow’ way and come down to Abu Dhabi’s leisure and entertainment district. Covering a 10km route from the du Forum to Yas Plaza, the parade was joined by a children’s parade featuring themed car costumes and the Abu Dhabi Police Band leading the procession.
