Gulf Film Festival confirmed for 2014

Dates set for seventh edition of the regional celebration of celluloid

Film buffs, get your diaries at the ready – dates for next year’s Gulf Film Festival have already been set.

The seventh edition of the festival will take place between Wednesday April 9 and Tuesday April 15, organisers have confirmed.

From the same stable as the Dubai International Film Festival, DIFF’s younger brother primarily focuses on cinema from across the region, offering a vital showcase to filmmakers from the GCC and beyond.

This year’s Gulf Film Festival (GFF) boasted the highest profile yet, featuring 169 films from 43 countries. The 2012 edition also introduced the inaugural Gulf Film Market, a new platform platform aimed at developing the film industry in the GCC through training, mentorship and funding opportunities for film professionals at all stages in their careers.

GFF Director Masoud Amralla Al Ali said: ‘We received overwhelmingly positive feedback on our sixth edition and our first Gulf Film Market which we hope to grow year on year in response to the needs of GCC filmmakers.

‘Our focus for the seventh edition of GFF is to contribute as much as possible to building on that structure, and as the industry matures, we hope to see incredible output from film professionals in the region and bringing their work to screens in the UAE.’
