Etihad Airways launches cheaper hand luggage-only fares

The airline wants to give passengers more flexibility

Etihad Airways is introducing a handy new fare which will be music to the ears of anyone who prefers to travel light.

The airline is launching a hand luggage-only fare, which will reduce the price for those who don’t need to put a suitcase in the hold.

Passengers will instead have a carry-on baggage allowance of seven kilograms.

The new policy is available on routes to and from Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman and Saudi Arabia.

Airline bosses hope it will afford greater flexibility to passengers who don’t feel like packing the kitchen sink for a getaway.

Robin Kamark, Etihad Airways’ chief commercial officer, said: “We are enhancing our product offering to align with customer feedback.

“Guests travelling for business, weekend getaways, or day trips who like to travel light can now avail cheaper fares.”

The airline’s website is currently offering deals such as a return trip from Abu Dhabi to Bahrain with just hand luggage for Dhs813.

Or you can book a return trip to Beirut from just Dhs1,003.
