Remember when we were all obsessed with ‘accidently’ bumping into Ryan Reynolds as he went about his business in the capital? Those were exciting days weren’t they.
Well, another huge Hollywood star is about to come waltzing into town, and this time it’s Irish actor Pierce Brosnan.
That’s right, actual James Bond himself will soon be here in Abu Dhabi (yes we know its Daniel Craig now, will but you get the point).
Shooting for gold-heist thriller The Misfits is due to begin on February 18 at Jumeirah at Etihad Towers, and it will be directed by action veteran Renny Harlin, who has also worked on hit films Die Hard 2 and Skip Trace.
Set mostly in the Middle East and written by Robert Henny, The Misfits follows the story of renowned criminal Richard Pace, who finds himself caught up in an elaborate gold heist that promises to have far-reaching implications.
American actress Jamie Chung and Rust Creek star Hermione Corfield will also appear in the film.
It will be produced by Kia Jam, who worked on Sin City 2: A Dame to Die For and Dean Altit, while Prince Rami Al Husseini will be the Executive Producer.
Jam said the team were ‘blown away’ after visiting and scouting out Abu Dhabi.
He said: “We all agreed in order to do the film justice, production would have to take place primarily on location in Abu Dhabi rather than L.A., and we set up our base at the spectacular Jumeirah at Etihad Towers.”
We can’t wait to see the flashy hotel up on the big screen, and we’re sure that every James Bond fan in the capital is desperately thinking of excuses to hang out by the Corniche over the next few weeks.
