The Night Comes For Us
There are redemption movies filled with decent action, and then there are Indonesian action flicks that take the violence up a notch. That’s exactly what The Night Comes For Us delivers. It’s brutal to the point it that nearly turns into a horror movie. If you’re a fan of that kind of ting, and can stomach it, prepare for brilliant fight choreography, an engaging story and a plenty of high kicks.
Isn’t It Romantic
If you’re looking for a taste of Rebel Wilson’s comedic talent, you’ll definitely want to catch her in Isn’t It Romantic. Thinking the notion of love is all gooey, young New Yorker Natalie suddenly finds herself trapped inside a romantic comedy, the one genre she’s always despised. Brimming with hilarious meta-mockery and random dances, you’ll get your giggles with this one. Oh, and worst of all, it’s a PG13 movie she finds herself stuck inside.
Roma
Oscar-winning Roma portrays an intimate character study of house caretaker Cleo, eventually revealing the social and political canvas of 1970s Mexico City. It will make you feel an assortment of feelings, but just make sure you bring some tissues for the ending.
The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind
Before you ask – no, this isn’t anything to do about The Last Airbender…
This touching story is about a boy who’s kicked out of the school he loves because his parents can’t afford it. When his village is hit with famine, he sneaks back into the school library to find a way to save it, and discovers he can build a windmill to do just that. If that sounds like we just told you the whole plot, trust us, it’s the journey that matters.
Bird Box
We love a post-apocalyptic thriller, almost as much as we love Sandra Bullock, and this 2018 Netflix Original had us hanging off the edge of our seats. Five years after an ominous unseen presence kills off most of society, a mother (Bullock) and her two children make a desperate bid to reach safety. It’s nail-biting stuff.
