Tweaks planned for Yas Marina Circuit

Changes to be made to Abu Dhabi F1 Grand Prix track to aid overtaking

The owners of Yas Marina Circuit are due to make changes to the layout of the track, according to Press reports.

The track came under fire after last November’s F1 Grand Prix for a lack of overtaking opportunities. At the race, championship contender Fernando Alonso was unable to pass fellow drivers and gain ground on his rival Sebastian Vettel.

According to the F1 Times newspaper, racing chiefs at Yas Marina plan to to widen the entry to the main hairpin and alter the cambering on another corner, which will give drivers more chances to outmaneuver their rivals.

The changes are expected to be implemented in time for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on November 13, which is the penultimate race before the season finale in Brazil.
