Arab hip hop talent to perform with Snoop Dogg

Flash announces support line-up for gangsta rap star’s Abu Dhabi gig

Some of the Middle East’s most influential hip hop DJs and rappers have been confirmed to support Snoop Dogg for his upcoming Yas Island gig.

Among the local talent is Lynne Fattouh, aka Malikah and MC Lix, a Lebanese MC who’s been dubbed the Queen of Arab hip hop for her groundbreaking lyrics and inspiration to other female rappers. The other Arab hip hop artists who will perform before and after Snoop Dogg include Radio 1’s Dany Neville; Desert Heat – a pair of Emirati rapping brothers; and Fredwreck – an Arab American rapper who has performed with the likes of Eminem, Britney Spears, Ice Cube and 50 Cent. Also appearing will be Khalifa Al Romaithi; DJ Lobito of Zulu Nation Middle East and up-and-coming Emirati rapper Robin.

Flash Entertainment spokesperson Shatha Al Rumaithi said of the choice of supporting acts: ‘Hip hop’s increasing popularity in this region is giving rise to an exciting form of creativity and expressions, and affording young Arabic artists the opportunity to deliver positive messages about their culture, heritage and values via an artistic platform.’

Snoop Dogg will be playing at Yas Arena on May 6 as part of Flash Entertainment’s Yas Island Show Weekends. For ticket information,visit www.timeouttickets.com
