Eating out at Market Kitchen is always guranteed to put you in a good mood.
The light and airy dining room is designed around a beautiful tree that acts as a striking centrepiece, while the Californian-inspired food menu is filled with high-quality plates such as the signature black truffle pizza and tuna sashimi.
But on our last visit, we went upstairs to visit the Attic Bar and here we found a totally different type of vibe.
This is clearly a late-night venue, and the young and trendy feel is complemented by moody lighting and a funky patterned ceiling.
The walls are lined with bottles of grape, and there are a few comfortable armchairs as well as the many high tables.
We take a seat at the well-stocked bar, where we’re immediately served by a friendly member of staff.
Although you might be tempted by the grape, this stylish venue also stocks an incredible number of juniper beverages.
In fact there are a whopping 23 different varieties from around the world. The perfect chance to try a selection of these is during the daily happy hour from 6pm to 8pm.
Mondays are also popular for the XOXO ladies’ night.
Not only can girls enjoy unlimited amounts of selected mixed drinks and grape, but there’s also 50 percent off food.
But we’re just here for a nightcap and are extremely content just chatting away at the bar, and so eventually we give in and decide to stay for just “one more round”.
The atmosphere is friendly and chilled-out, and the complimentary nuts are excellent too (well, we’re big fans of any food that’s free, but still these are very good).
This is a more upmarket and stylish place to drink compared to its cosy neighbour PJ O’Reilly’s (in fact the two couldn’t really be more different).
We can’t wait to get our glad rags on and come back again to try out a few mixed drinks.
